A little about who I am, what I notice, and why I photograph the way I do
I’VE ALWAYS BEEN AN OBSERVER
I’ve always been drawn to the things that happen quietly — a gesture,
a glance, the way people move around each other when they forget they’re being watched.
Photography became my way of paying attention. A way of noticing the small, ordinary moments that are so easy to overlook while we’re living them.
Maybe that’s why I’ve always been drawn to things that don’t last.
The things that
don´t last
I think a lot about impermanence.
Everything is always changing. Children grow. Bodies change. Relationships evolve. Places disappear. People come into our lives and sometimes leave them. Even we become different versions of ourselves.
Photography can’t stop any of that — and I don’t think it should.
But it can leave us something to return to. A gesture. A face. A place. Proof of who we were, who we loved, and what it felt like to be there.
That is what I want to preserve.
A little more about me
A few things that make me, me.
MUSIC, ALWAYS.
I’ve always been drawn to music that creates an atmosphere — the kind that becomes a soundtrack to a moment, a place, or a memory. My taste tends to wander through metal, shoegaze,darwave, alternative and atmospheric sounds: sometimes heavy, sometimes melancholic, sometimes beautifully strange.
I love how music can completely change the way a moment feels, and somehow stay attached to it long after it’s gone.
CURIOUS BY NATURE.
I can happily disappear into conversations about art, history, philosophy, people and the strange ways we make sense of being alive. I’m fascinated by the natural world and by understanding how the things around us work.
I also get bored rather easily — which, as it turns out, has its advantages. It keeps me curious, always looking for something new to learn, explore or understand.
DOCUMENTARY AT HEART.
Long before photography became my work, I was drawn to documentary storytelling. I’m still fascinated by real people, real communities and the stories that exist beyond the obvious.
Personal projects are an important part of my practice, particularly those centered around identity, belonging and LGBTQ+ communities. They give me the space to observe, listen and document stories simply because I believe they deserve to be remembered.
A FEW OTHER THINGS.
Cats. Dancing. Old photographs. Film photography. The ocean at the right hour. Strange, beautiful things. And probably thinking about something far more deeply than necessary.
I’m also a feminist, and I believe deeply in women having the freedom to take up space, own their stories, inhabit their bodies on their own terms, and define themselves beyond what the world expects them to be.
